Thank you November, hello December

Crikey December, where have you appeared from? I knew you were on your way soon a couple of months back as reindeers and chocolate selection boxes started appearing in the shops. Oh and thanks November, you’ve been good to me. I guess for a number of reasons. So here’s my round-up of looking back and looking forward…

Seven reasons to get out and about with your kids

Over the past couple of months I’ve been much better at getting out and about on my own with three-year old Big Munch and Toddler Munch. To be honest, it’s taken me a while to feel really confident about going into town with two in tow. But now I’ve kind of mastered it. Seeing my friends at different events and gatherings recently reminded me why it’s so important to get out and about with our babies, toddlers and kids. Continue reading

Seven things I love about the Mama Meets at Olive Loves Alfie East, London

One thing I know is that it’s really important for me to get out and about in London with the girls. Even more important to do this when I’m looking after the girls on my own. The other week I popped along to my first Mama Meet at the creative family store Olive Loves Alfie East.  It was a day out for me and my two girls as we ventured over to Stratford with Big Munch on foot and Toddler Munch in the buggy. The Mama Meet is a chilled gathering organised by the store and Emma from Finlay and Fox. I heard about the Mama Meet through Instagram and spotted that Mary and Emma from Supercharged Club were doing a talk. I grabbed a ticket online.olivelovesaflie-14

Here’s seven things we loved about the Mama Meet… Continue reading

My style round up at #Blogfest16

It’s rare that I flick through magazines for style inspiration. These days, its more about seeing what people are wearing out and about. Instagram is also a good one for ideas. It’s not so much about trends for me but how people are putting their outfits together. At #Blogfest16 the other weekend, I spotted some great style gems. It was also a good opportunity to chat to people and find out about their blogs. Check out their blogs if you get a chance… Continue reading

What does GEM mean to me?

There are few things that GEM mean to me and my family. GEM is an abbreviation for gemstone. If I were to flick through the Sunita-cyclopedia I’m sure it says something that is strong, sparkly and precious. Sometimes I find myself saying to others “You’re a gem”. It means someone who is so supportive and just fabulous. I always feel grateful for everyone’s help and encouragement.

#Blogfest16 – Seven inspiring thoughts from the opening talk – Women online, where to from here

The Mumsnet #Blogfest16 was an inspiring day. It was also a fun day if you’ve seen my Instagram corner lately. Quite a few posts are on their way, including my #Blogfest16 Style Round-Up and my #Blogfest16 in Pictures (thanks to everyone who let me snap photos of them). One thing I love about blogging is that I get to share bits of inspiration with you. You don’t have to be a blogger to enjoy the posts in my #Blogfest16 series. To kick off, here’s seven inspiring thoughts from the opening talk.

We heard many thoughts on expressing our views and the power of social media. A timely discussion bearing in mind the news this week. Compered by Mumsnet Founder Justine Roberts, the talented panel featured views, debates and laughs from BBC journalist Fifi Glover, comedienne Shappi Khorsandi, Jess Phillips MP and blogger Victoria Smith from Gloss Witch. Blogger: Why I’m off to Mumsnet #Blogfest16

It’s obvious I love blogging. There are lots of reasons why. I’m heading to Mumsnet #Blogfest16 with about 500 other blogger colleagues. In true Lucky Things style, here’s seven reasons why…

  1. It’s good to get people together…It’s lovely looking at the Insta comments and Tweets seeing that blogger pals are going to be meeting up (and for the first time). There’s a real energy when you get to see people IRL who you don’t get to see in person much. We loved getting everyone together at the first ever Lucky Things Meet Up back in October. This year, I’ve encouraged a few of my blogger pals (well friends really) to come along to their first blogger conference. Thanks to jeniwhitchurch from Where I Write who won tickets last minute and kindly gave the second prize to one of my friends.

Lucky Things Style: Seven reasons why you need a cross-body bag in your life

Hey there. Well us ladies love handbags don’t we? The world of style has created a separate fashion industry just for bags. When did I first caring so much about handbags? I think it was actually in my early twenties when I started my first proper office job.

One kind of bag that I’ve loved for a long time is the cross-body bag (what I call the CBB). Way before mummy days I’d always have a cross body bag. I think back then it looked kind of geeky. It felt safe on the streets of London. Nowadays cross body bags are everywhere. Along with it’s cousin the backpack, it’s a practical stylish accessory. I’ve recently discovered the cross body bags at Tu Sainsbury’s. Here’s seven reasons why every lady needs a cross body bag in her life… Continue reading

Seven things I learned about brand – from Linzi Boyd at the Mothers Meeting Conference

Last week I went to the Mothers Meeting Conference to hear Linzi Boyd chat about all things brand. She set up the BOB School (Business of Brand). Linzi shared some gems on how to get everyone talking about your business. It didn’t matter that lots of us were at different stages with our projects and adventures. It was also cool hearing from Jenny Scott who founded and runs Mothers Meetings. About eighty of us gathered in the beautiful Council Chamber at The Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green.
