This year I’ve launched the IVF Journey series on Lucky Things Blog. In hope of spreading awareness of what couples go through as well as reminding people how common IVF is. I’m grateful to be featuring Faye’s IVF journey. Faye blogs at glossytots.co.uk. She lives in the West Midlands and is a quality monitoring and training executive at an insurance company. Faye tells me how she is loving every moment with her five-year old daughter. Here’s Faye’s IVF journey… Continue reading
Last week was an interesting one for me. I appeared on live BBC radio talking about blogging and we touched on my pre and post-IVF anxieties. The BBC radio presenter Shazia Awan also mentioned my Will we tell our children they’re IVF babies? blog featured as Mumsnet Blog of the Day. One of the things I’ve been pretty honest about when writing and talking about our IVF journey is how I felt about having to do IVF. I felt ashamed. Looking back, I wonder if I could have felt differently and what would have changed this for me. I hope others who are thinking about IVF or going through it don’t feel ashamed like I did. If they do, I totally get why. So here’s a few thoughts on what could have stopped me feeling ashamed about doing IVF. Continue reading
It was great hearing Melanie C‘s talk at Stylist Live. It was one talk I couldn’t miss. It was just over twenty years ago when The Spice Girls first came onto the scene. They changed the world of girl pop forever. I always rated Melanic C as she was also a big fan of tracksuits and trainers. Here’s seven things I learned from Melanie C that afternoon…
I met Pippa from the lovely children’s bedtime company Panda & Ping at The Mama Squad Assemble back in August. We had a good old natter. Panda & Ping is approaching it’s first birthday so it’s been a busy year (there’s a discount code below to celebrate). Here’s what Pippa had to say about bedtime routines, Chanel No5 and skinny jeans. Continue reading
Pre-kids I’d be out a few times a week in the evenings. Whether it was dinner outings, work events, dancing to our favourite DJs’ tracks in clubs or parties, the week always involved a good night out. Now I’m a mama, things are obviously different. So when I do have a night out I need to be organised as I can be. The getting ready part of a night out is important to me. I want to feel great about what I’m wearing. It’s a bit of free pampering and me-time. It’s what I call a me-treat. This means I have to be a bit organised (note: just a bit and nothing goes to plan). I can’t always do night outs so sometimes I plan outings with friends at the weekends for a few hours. So here’s 7 tips on getting ready for a mum night (or morning/afternoon) out… Continue reading
Bufi is a wonderful Italian family-run restaurant based in the centre of East Finchley, North London. The N2 branch opened in 2013 and it’s run by Sofia. As we’ve lived in North London for over 8 years now we’ve come to love lots about the East Finchley area. It’s bang in the middle of some great hubs: Highgate, Hampstead and Muswell Hill. We often venture to East Finchley and Bufi is one of our favourite places to eat.
It was fun catching up with the Little Tikes and Azaria PR team to check out the new Little Tikes Baby range. On my way into London town on Wednesday, I gave up my seat for a lady as she was expecting. I started chatting to the couple who were going to become parents for the first time. They were so inspiring. They had a really fresh outlook as parents-to-be. We talked about the pressure to read lots of parenting -baby books. We agreed it was just about finding your own groove and getting to know your baby. I’m so excited about their new journey. They have lots to look forward to, especially when it comes to watching their little ones grow and develop through everyday play time.
We’ve been lucky enough to enjoy some really hot days over the past couple of months. The hotter it was, the more I realised I needed to drink more water. I’m usually quite good at reminding the girls to drink extra water when the days have been warmer. Now Autumn is definitely here. I no longer need to freeze my water bottles to keep them cool in the sweltering heat. Room temperature is just fine. Whatever the season, we still need to stay hydrated. We all know that water has so many health benefits but somehow we don’t get round to drinking quite enough. So here’s 7 reasons why it’s good to drink lots of water all year round… Continue reading
I’ve always had a thing for pictures. Probably around the age I started getting into photography. Also around the time I arrived in London. Then a few years ago Instagram popped up. I loved it. I could look at pictures for ages. Flickr appeared in my life but we didn’t have the same bond. Having launched @luckythingsblog properly about 6 months ago now I’ve loved what my Instagram has grown into.
