Food: Lunch at Drake and Morgan’s The Folly, City of London

I’ve worked in the City of London for over 15 years. We were spoilt for choice when it came to popping out for lunch or after work suppers. Over the past couple of years I discovered the Drake and Morgan venues for lunch, drinks and supper. All of their venues also do a mean brunch. Here’s seven things I love about The Folly in one of my favourite corners of the City… Continue reading

Seven reasons to get out and about with your kids

Over the past couple of months I’ve been much better at getting out and about on my own with three-year old Big Munch and Toddler Munch. To be honest, it’s taken me a while to feel really confident about going into town with two in tow. But now I’ve kind of mastered it. Seeing my friends at different events and gatherings recently reminded me why it’s so important to get out and about with our babies, toddlers and kids. Continue reading

Seven things I love about the Mama Meets at Olive Loves Alfie East, London

One thing I know is that it’s really important for me to get out and about in London with the girls. Even more important to do this when I’m looking after the girls on my own. The other week I popped along to my first Mama Meet at the creative family store Olive Loves Alfie East.  It was a day out for me and my two girls as we ventured over to Stratford with Big Munch on foot and Toddler Munch in the buggy. The Mama Meet is a chilled gathering organised by the store and Emma from Finlay and Fox. I heard about the Mama Meet through Instagram and spotted that Mary and Emma from Supercharged Club were doing a talk. I grabbed a ticket online.olivelovesaflie-14

Lucky Things Food: Review of Bufi, East Finchley, London

Bufi is a wonderful Italian family-run restaurant based in the centre of East Finchley, North London. The N2 branch opened in 2013 and it’s run by Sofia. As we’ve lived in North London for over 8 years now we’ve come to love lots about the East Finchley area. It’s bang in the middle of some great hubs: Highgate, Hampstead and Muswell Hill. We often venture to East Finchley and Bufi is one of our favourite places to eat.

Lucky Things Out & About – 7 Things we love about Everyman Cinemas

As we’ve lived in London for a while now, we’ve always been spoiled for choice when it comes to cinemas. Last year, more Everyman Cinemas were popping up and we’re now lucky to have three a short drive away. Our local ones are in Muswell Hill, Hampstead and Barnet. The other night I visited one of the nearest Everyman Cinemas with my mummy pal. We chose to head to Everyman Barnet as they were showing Bad Moms. We obviously picked up some great tips from the film Bad Moms (so check those out on another post). Continue reading

Our Mothers Meetings afternoon with Myleene Klass and her new My K by Myleene range for Mothercare

Mummy and daughter one-to-one dates are so important. I was Baby Munch’s plus one at the launch party for Myleene Klass’ My K kids range organised by Mothers Meetings and Mothercare. We actually arrived on time at the Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green – an achievement for any mama and babba. Cherry Healey was leading the talk with Myleene so I knew they’d be guaranteed giggles.

Jenny at Mothers Meetings along with her organised crew arranged a great afternoon. Older kids hung out at the craft table, mamas had fun browsing the new My K range and toddlers mooched around the party floor trying to reach the biggest balloons they’d ever seen.

Lucky Things Kids: Off to Willows Activity Farm, St Albans, Hertfordshire

It was lovely taking three-year old Big Munch to Willows Activity Farm last Saturday. We had a nice daughter-mummy date. Every so often I make sure we have time just the two of us. As we’re based in North London, Willows Activity Farm is just a twenty-minute drive away. We also met some friends there which was fun. There is so much for the little ones to explore and it’s a place that’s fun for kids of all ages. Here’s 7 things we loved about Willows Activity Farm… Continue reading

Lucky Things Food: Review of Whyte & Brown, Kingly Court, London WC1

Whyte & Brown is based in the gorgeous secluded Kingly Court behind Liberty’s at Oxford Circus. The last time I went to Whyte & Brown was for a late night supper with a friend. We met earlier on for dinner but were distracted mooching around Topshop around the corner! We ended up eating at 10pm on a Friday night (that’s rock and roll in my world!). Last time I had the buttermilk chicken burger and it was pretty good.

It was lovely heading back to Whyte & Brown for lunch this week. I went with one of my girlfriends. We needed a proper catch up before she headed back to her new teaching job next week. Here’s 7 things we loved about Whyte & Brown: Continue reading

Lucky Things Music: Hip-hopping at FUN DMC, Cargo in Shoreditch

Hi Lucky Things crew. Ah, the Bank Holiday weekend is now over. We planned a few things to keep us busy. It was great seeing our friends and family. On Bank Holiday Monday we headed to FUN DMC, the daytime hip-hop block party for little people (and their grown-ups). Ok, so it’s an excuse for the parents to listen to some hip-hop and RnB, bust a move and enjoy being out and about in a club. The kids love FUN DMC too. Continue reading
