I love doodling, drawing and doing arty things with my two girls. My Mum discouraged me to do A level art. She told me you don’t need to study art to be an artist. She was probably right. Something I love popping up on my Facebook or Instagram feed are the Sketchy Muma drawings by the talented Anna Lewis. They are heartfelt, comical and always ooze emotion. I first heard about Mumsdays through my work mate Laura. It’s great how we enjoy connecting each other with people and ideas. So I wanted to share more about the co-founder of this thoughtful online gift hub. It’s pretty important to get people together. The last Mothers Meeting of 2016 brought together lots of talented ladies at London’s The Town Hall Hotel. Not just a community of old and new faces but also the amazing entrepreneurs at the Christmas market. As the end of 2016 approaches a lot of us are thinking about the year behind us. We’re thinking about the ups and downs, the ins and outs of how we got through it and what we have planned for 2017 (crikey, where has the year gone?).
At this Mothers Meeting Confidence Conference we heard from a panel about what they have learnt from 2016. They also shared their highlights. I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while. But now is a good time as this year I’ve also experienced a new definition of girl gang. Let’s go back, way back. So what did girl gang mean to me when I was younger? It was a group of girls who we couldn’t relate to. They had different priorities. They had a different boldness. They were extroverts. They ruled the school playground and our local shopping centre. They were busy being exclusive. Little did they know, me and my secondary school mates were quite happy in our own little gang with our own traditions. Ours was just more of an inclusive one, with no rules.
